Truffle Treasure

This is a more intimate smaller group tour, which is designed to see some of the special features of Tauranga and Mt Maunganui dual cities, whilst travelling to and from the Truffle Treasure truffiere (farm).

The soils and climate of the coastal Bay of Plenty produce not only the world's highest quality kiwifruit, but also, in one small spot, Maureen and Colin Binns have pioneered the development of NZ's highest quality producing truffiere, from which they harvest the much sought after, very expensive, Black Perigord truffles. The highly trained truffle dogs, Jed and Sam, find the truffles underground/
Visit the oak and hazelnut trees in the truffiere, where you will learn how the truffles grow, how the dogs are trained.

Back at the house you will enjoy the taste of truffle-infused delights including cheeses, honey, butter eggs, shortbread and ice-cream.
The travel to and from the truffiere will provide a complete visual impression of the coastal Bay of Plenty, of the city scapes and the Bay of Plenty countryside.
